About the show

Two journalists. One landscape of endless raging dumpster fires.

Blocked and Reported is a weekly podcast hosted by Katie Herzog and Jesse Singal — two reporters who spend more time than is healthy reading the internet so that, in theory, you don't have to.

Each week they pick the silliest, the saddest, and the most genuinely consequential stories the rest of the press has missed, mangled, or memory-holed, and try to extract some kernel of meaning from the noise. Sometimes there is a kernel. Sometimes there is only noise.

New episodes drop most Mondays, with bonus episodes for members throughout the week.

The hosts

Katie Herzog is a journalist whose work has appeared in The Stranger, The Atlantic, and The Free Press, among others. She writes about media, identity, gender, and the institutions that mediate them.

Jesse Singal is a journalist and author of The Quick Fix, a contributing writer at New York magazine, and has written for The Atlantic, The New York Times, and Slate. He covers behavioral science, psychology, and the way fads sweep through both.
